The Year of Mercy
Pope Francis designated a Jubilee Year of Mercy from 8th December 2015 until the Feast of Christ the King 2016. The Year of Mercy was the main focus for parish renewal during this time, and even though the Year itself in finished, the resources below continue to offer material on the important theme of mercy.
Fr William has been offering various presentations to the parishes on the subject of the Year of Mercy. To view these presentations click on the buttons below.

Service to designate St Martin and St Ninian's, Whithorn as a Jubilee Year Church

Bishop Nolan celebrated a Service on Saturday 19th December at 13.00 in the Church of St Martin and St Ninian's, Whithorn, to formally open the Door of Mercy in this church, and to designate St Martin and St Ninian's as a Jubilee Church of Pilgrimage for the diocese.

The pictures offer a sense of the joyful ceremony which included involvement and participation from local ecumenical friends, as well as the presence of the local Member of Parliament, Mr Richard Arkless.

Following the ceremony Bishop Nolan was a guest of the Whithorn Trust, visiting the exhibition with Fr William, and meeting the Trustees of the Trust. He was also presented with a gift of a book about the tomb of St Ninian.
