Diocese of Galloway Study Days

Adult Formation Day 18062011 007

Over the past two year Diocesan Adult Education Study Days have been held in St Paul's hall, Ayr; in St Matthew's hall, Kilmarnock; in St Joseph's hall, Kilmarnock; in St John's hall, Cumnock; in St Quivox hall, Prestwick; in St Mary's hall, Irvine; and in St Teresa's hall, Dumfries.

These days have focussed on church teaching related to preparing for, and building upon, the Papal Visit of Pope Benedict XVI, and in preparing for the Year of Faith called for by Pope Benedict XVI.

The Study Days looked at the role of the pope, of bishops, of priests, and of the laity, and a particular emphasis was given to looking at the contribution of Pope John Paul II to Church Teaching.

In addition, the four sections of the Catechism of the Catholic Church provided the content for our teaching and reflection.

Further opportunities for adult faith formation will be available during The Year of Faith on a local basis provided by the deaneries.
